After your appointment • Aftercare and other FAQ
• once the appointment comes to a close we will assess if photos are wanted or if we will wait until your tattoo is healed to get some good, quality photos! Then you get to decide which type of bandage is best for you. Typically the two types of bandages offered are
1)dri-lock pad temporary bandages which you can leave on until you get home or overnight. Whenever you decide to take the bandage off, wash your tattoo and follow the traditional healing instructions below. These bandages are great for clients who have sensitivities to adhesives or who have thin or sensitive skin.
2) Recovery Derm Sheild, which is a clear latex free bandage you can leave on for up to 3-4 days. It is normal to get a collection of excess plasma, blood, and ink under this bandage, it will look like goopy brown fluid, this does not stain your tattoo or cause any problems, it actually accelerates healing just like how your body treats a scab. However if any fluid leaks out of the bandage, your bandage is compromised which means, bacteria can get under it and risk an infection. Always take your bandage off if it peels up and exposes your tattoo! When you are ready to take this bandage off, take it off in a warm shower, under running water and pull down like a command strip. Once the bandage is off follow traditional healing instructions below!
